As you age, your immune system it will not be as strong as it used to be. Since a senior’s immune system is considerably weaker, it makes them more susceptible to the flu. Furthermore, it also increases their risk of developing serious flu complications such as pneumonia, sepsis, or worsening of heart or lung disease.
How to avoid it: Get annual flu shots. If you are older than 65, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the high-dose flu version which offers more protection.
